I was reading the daily newspaper when my attention was caught by an article concerning the parity of male and female gender in the society. The issue has always been the main topic in my office, since it is apparent that most of the employees handling major
job positions are men. I admit, I believe the women have their rights to the positions, but that is the way it is.
Hey, I say this not because I am a feminist, but because I believe that equality amongst men and women can be achieved through unity. Is that too deep? It is plain and simple. I remember my colleague told me of the envious situation in Scandinavia. Envious because as a woman, she almost prayed that it was the same here at our office. Well, Scandinavia even received a
worldwide recognition for its concern about equality.
I admire the very minimal gap among the genders on political powers, job opportunities, education, and health among Scandinavians. Maybe, their secret in maintaining equality is their respect with
strong people skills. I mean, everyone, male or female, is capable of contributing his or her services for the benefit of the country. It saddens me to think that in my corner of the earth, male superiority has prevailed over the time. Maybe, someday, when people come to realize the effects of equality, then my women colleagues will never again lament over discrimination.
