In case you're thinking of actually going to beautiful Netherlands, you probably haven't heard of the place Domburg even if I told you about it. The Netherlands is among the most beautiful countries to visit, and it also has good people as much as good food. But in Domburg, the Castle Hostel is among the best hotels in this region of the world! You could probably get a digital image of the place from one of those satellite mapping service providers.
Tuesday, May 1. 2007
The Castle Hostel is surrounded by an actual moat that is well-kept by the maintenance crew of the hotel. Now don't you think spending a night in this place would give you bad dreams and all about medieval times? Witches, sorcerers, etc. Yes, and this place is even surrounded by a damn forest! Talk about aura, man! But this hotel serves the best food I have ever tasted, and it's probably because they prepare Scandinavian food as how it should always be prepared: elegantly!
Monday, April 30. 2007
Biking in the grounds is the main pastime of the tourists here in the Domburg Castle Hostel. Even the locals of this place use bikes for their regular commuting needs. This is because the forest that surrounds the Castle Hostel is too magnificent to miss out on a fast car ride. You should be prepared for wildlife and more plantlife than you have probably ever seen in all your holiday trips!

Even with modern satellite technology, we still can't detect every bit of rock that enters our world's atmosphere. This is because most of the time, the rocks or meteors that enter our planet's atmosphere get vaporized, or they're all just too damn small for anyone to notice. But early last week, a 12-kilo chunk of meteorite debris fell on the town of Reisadalen in Norway. Of course, this caused quite a stir, especially with the military patrolling its skies! Plus, a certain astronomer from Oslo's local university almost caused a statewide panic!
Saturday, April 28. 2007
Reisadalen, a valley somewhere in Norway's county Nord-Troms, was shaken last week. This was due to the impact of a 12-kilo chunk of meteorite debris which fell from the sky right smack on it! Now residents of this town were rather given the wrong information by a certain Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard, an astronomer who works at the local Oslo university. But other astronomers from the Northern Lights Observatory corrected the information given to the public just at the right time to prevent any state-wide panic. They dismissed it as an actual exaggeration of factual evidence.
Friday, April 27. 2007
Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard, the astronomer who had given the wrong information, had already apologized for his mistake. Early last week, he had told the residents of Reisadalen that a meteorite of the same size, as what struck this county last week, could give them an explosion similar to that of an atomic bomb upon impact. The astronomers of the Northern Lights Observatory have dismissed this as an actual exaggeration. They believe that every once in a while we get those chunks. But often than not, they slow down upon entering our planet's atmosphere, or burn up altogether.

If digital information technology helps our lives become more convenient and a whole lot easier, it's a different thing when it comes to how we're using some of the most advanced scientific breakthroughs of our time. For instance, nuclear energy is being developed for weaponry which could ultimately destroy the world. Norway is among the countries that are making the necessary preparations, in case nuclear war comes by. This country's government is actually planning to create a functional seed bank which would house all known crop seed types of the planet.
Wednesday, April 25. 2007
Yes, the government of Norway is actually planning to create a sort of crop shelter just in case doomsday comes by. This so-called seed bank would house all crop types known to man. Spitsbergen, an island of Norway, is the place where the functional seed bank would actually be built on. The scientists of Norway are devising plans of which materials should be used for the actual seed bank. This is because it should manage to protect itself just in case war or any other devastating disaster comes by and destroys the damn planet.
Tuesday, April 24. 2007
Between the options of devastating natural disasters and nuclear warfare, which are choices that would actually destroy the world, nuclear war is my top pick to do the job. Now this event would generally destroy all plant life because of the effects it has on the sun, which is called nuclear winter. It's a good thing the government of Norway is among the most prepared countries just in case we end up destroying the planet we live in. In this regard, I'd be preparing for a retirement plan in this country!

This is what a damn Swedish library is trying to desperately get rid of. Since most people don't actually believe what is written in books, more so what is seen on TV, the people from this library have made some plans to functionally knock some damn sense in these persons' minds. No, they're not conducting any research or something, you know. What they're actually planning to do is way out of whack!
Malmoe Library has just implemented a "Borrow an Actual Person" feature as an additional service. As of this week, a prostitute, a lesbian, and some other heavily discriminated individuals can be borrowed for about 45 minutes from this library. Well, they can't be taken home, you know, but people can talk to them in the confines of the library's cafe. This is an experimental way in which to prevent unfounded discriminatory ideas that some people have on certain individuals, the library officials have stated. It might just work, and I think this is just another step the government of Sweden has planned to take so as to promote solidarity amongst its people.

While Denmark is a neighbor to fellow nations like Sweden and Norway, Danes do not wish to be mistaken or reffered to as Swede or Norwegian. That is, even if they are under one umbrella- Scandinavia. Although they are somewhat related, Danes have their own culture and core values. They stand proud with independence and with their own identity. Speaking of identity, these are some notable traces of their character and personality...some witty trivias and guides.
You may find them odd when they quip "It's wonderful weather" even if you're drenched in rain or "It is a trifle chilly" when the sun is soon to scorch your skin. They're not making fun of you though. There's just irony in their expression. But don't worry other than that, they are very polite. They say "thank you" all the time, as if it is an instinctive blubber of their tongues.
"How are you?" is a common greeting and trite expression even to strangers. In Denmark, you only use it when referring to someone close to you. They also appreciate courtesy, good social etiquette and a well-mannered disposition. Meanwhile, please control yourself! Do not take liberty in being somebody else's fashion critic. They do not wish to hear you fawning or overly-criticizing a clothing get-up.
Free yourself from the culture shock. At least now you know more about Danes. This way you can understand them better and relate to them minus the embarrassment.

Coping up with the demands of my family, friends and work is a juggling act. I often end the week stressed out from nervous and physical fatigue, exhausting all my energy. So every week I always take a dose of my Swedish Massage. I personally favor its technique, releasing the unwanted pressure build-ups from my body. After my session, I'm always ready to face another battle in my life. It feels saintly!
This massage is one of the best Swedish import to the world. I feel it working deep into my muscles and tissues, kneading through the gentle hands of the therapist. The handworks are gentle, soft, refreshing and revitalizing. It's almost like reviving the cells in my body whether it is a back or stress massage. Normally, the specific areas of my massage would include the arms, legs, shoulders, thigh, abs and back. I've also tried other massage techniques but it feels better with the Swedish massage. It's very scientific and it does not only work in your body, but with your mind as well. It soon became a routine for most of my buddies and sometimes with my wife.
Well, I sympathize with a lot of corporate executives like me. We are frazzled with daily problems coming up with solutions for everything. So I advise you take an hour off and pamper yourself at least with the Swedish Massage!

You are all too familiar with Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland, but have you heard of Faroe Islands? My guess is you haven't, and that's the reason I'm here. You might not even know where to find it in your world atlas map. I will give you the 411 on this Scandinavian delight and all there is to know.
The country of Faroe Islands is a group of islands somewhere between the countries of Norway, Iceland, and Scotland. Although comprised of eighteen islands (which was formed by a volcanic eruption some thirty million years ago), only one of is inhabited. The country's name actually means Sheep Islands in Faroese.
The capital Torshavn is a perfect place to discover the country's rich history and soaking in anything Faroese. If it's the history you want to know about, the museum of Fornminissavn is the right to place to go. Another thing that you can do is to visit the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral and the St. Olav's Church in Kirkjubour. You can also take a boat trip to Vestmanna bird cliffs where you can see birds like razorbills and puffins. If you want to fish, you can go to Saksun where you can find Pollun lake.

Norway lies on the northern tip of Europe. It is one of the countries that comprise the Scandinavian region. Just like the rest of its Scandinavian neighbors, Norway prides itself with its long breathtaking coastline, distinctive beauty, and abundant vibrant history.
Did you know that Leif Ericson, a Norwegian Viking, discovered America around 1000 A.D.? The first man on the South Pole was a Norwegian. The Norwegians are the second richest people in the world. The Norwegians invented the paper clip and the skis. These and so much more are the reasons which are good enough to make every Norwegian proud of himself.
Norway has a lot more to offer. It is also dubbed as one the best tourist destinations in the world. You will be mesmerized by its classic architectural arts and designs manifested in their museums, bridges, and other structures. They have greatly contributed in sports like skiing, their national sport. Behold its long stretch of coastal beaches, mountains, and steeps. Get a taste of various Norwegian cuisines. These and many others are enough to make your visit to Norway truly satisfying, enjoyable, and memorable.

Lapland is one of the countries the rest of the world is quite unfamiliar with. Only inhabited by less than two hundred thousand people, Lapland prides itself on the metal and forestry resources that the country exports to other European areas.
Aside from these wood and metal industries, Lapland also specializes in producing agricultural goods and handicrafts, and managing holiday resorts. Lapland is very much rich in flora and fauna as well as marine life, and each month there is a cultural festival that pays tribute to the beauty of this land. The city of Rovaniemi is considered the capital of Lapland.

If India has many beautiful safaris, then Greenland has the biggest mammals swimming just near the ocean shores! Many towns in Greenland have sight-seeing spots especially to view the whales. The whales aren't just one or two or just one kind.
There are the Humpback whales, the minke whales, the Narwhales, the beluga whales, the sperm whales, the pilot whales, Greenland's local whales, and they have the two largest whales around! The Blue whale and the Fin whale. There are also seals and Walruses just basking under the Autumn or summer sun. If you love this adorable, gentle giants, then come to Greenland and see them for yourselves!

Have you ever dreamed of going to the Arctic? A visit to Greenland may just as well prove to be breathtaking, literally. Situated on the top of the globe, Greenland prides itself on its natural heritage of snow, glaciers, mountains, and icebergs.
Inhabited by about fifty five thousand residents, Greenland has a weather that is always cold, but not foggy, and throughout the whole year, winter sports can be enjoyed by both locals and tourists. Greenland animal sightings include whales, walruses, and polar bears, and Greenland's culture is alive through colorful crafts and arts.

Iceland. For a place named as such you'd think the whole country is frozen, everything covered in ice. You'd be so wrong, in fact that notion could not be further from the truth. Iceland is a volcanic island in the Nothern Atlantic Ocean.
Mother Nature blessed this country with a spectacular landscape. There are so many sights to see and places to go in Iceland: Lakes, Rivers, Waterfalls, Volcanoes, Fjords as well as a teeming population of wildlife. Of courese Iceland is not without ice as you can visit Europe's largest ice cap in your visit of this island. After your glacier tour, you might want to visit of the island's hotsprings area at Geysir before calling it a night.

I have always been fascinated with Finland, known by some as Nokia's home country. Finland is one of Europe's largest countries, with over five million inhabitants. Situated beside Norway and Sweden, Finland is made up of mostly lowlands surrounded by lakes and hills.
Helsinki is the country's capital, and most of the people who reside in Finland speak Finnish and Swedish. Because of the flatlands and bodies of water in the area, some parts of Finland are warm while other parts are cold. Finland is popular for its natural resources, which include wood and various metals such as ore, copper and zinc, many of which are exported to other places around the globe.

Sweden is one of the Scandinavian countries bordering the north of Europe beside Finland and Norway. Almost like the size of California, Sweden is home to more than nine million residents. Pretty crowded, huh?
Well, even though the cities and capital of Stockholm are packed, spending your vacation in Sweden is still worth it because of the cold weather and the friendly Swedish and Finnish-speaking people. Plus, the beautiful scenery of lowlands and architectural buildings surrounded by bodies of water are one of a kind.

And you think the weather in Iceland is freezing, think again! Iceland is always ready for some unique outdoor sports like snowboarding, horse-back riding, and hear this-swimming. Yes, you heard me loud and clear, you can swim around in Iceland during the winter even when there's a blizzard! And how is this possible? Why, with geothermally-heated pools, of course! Iceland is packed with glaciers and warm pools, extremes, but totally sensible and fun. After skiing and snowboarding all day, warm up with the very soothing and relaxing heated pools... Iceland for you will never be Iceland again, once you've experienced the hot outdoor pools.

Sweden's ice hotel... Woah! This is the very first time that I've actually heard and seen of a hotel, made entirely of ice! I expected to catch pneumonia or just freeze! But, it's surprisingly comfortable, cozy and... yes, warm. The rooms, and everything in it, are made of large beautifully landscaped ice blocks, even the bed. But, the wooden panels will keep you warm, along with the reindeer skin comforters and mattresses. Everything around shines with hues of blue, it's magical, it's really amazing. Everything's in this luxury hotel is made of ice, on the rocks!
